Our mission

Today, 690 million people around the world go to bed on an empty stomach. In order to feed all people in 2050 we need to produce 50-70% more food than today. There are simply not enough resources to realize this and typically over 40% of all produce is lost or wasted.

We need to look after the next generation and our planet – there is no Planet B.

The story behind

Kind Technologies was founded in 2012 by Alex Kind and Richard Vialle, two entrepreneurs who work together since more than 20 years. Their lives crossed at a big corporate telecommunications company, where their mutual dream was born to build their own high-tech company.

Inspired by Belgian cartoonist, Hergé, their founding principle has been since:
By believing in his dreams, man turns them into reality

Kind Technologies started through the acquisition of Beltech, a Dutch computer vision company with more than 30 years of experience. Since then the company has grown from 9 FTE to more than 180 FTE through strong organic growth combined with add-on acquisitions of Vimec Applied Vision Technology (2014), KOAT (2019) and Martin Stolze (2020).

In 2018, Belgian public investor GIMV N.V. (GIMB) joined as shareholder to provide growth capital and support, to realize the company’s ambitious growth strategy.

In 2021, Kind Technologies sold its pharmaceutical business (Vimec) to focus 100% on AgTech addressing the greenhouse horticulture and fresh produce markets.

In 2021 Kind Technologies also invested into Hortilogics, a joint venture with global greenhouse horticulture supplier Royal Brinkman. Within Hortilogics the technology from Kind Technologies is combined with that of Berg Hortimotive and HortiKey (both Royal Brinkman companies) in order to offer complete automation of internal logistics in the greenhouse and packing hall, in a turn key manner, globally.

Kind Technologies was awarded with multiple Gazelle Awards for fast growing companies and selected by Dutch newspaper FD as one of the eight New Champions, companies with the potential to become dominating leaders in their field.

Kind Technologies’ roots lay in the Eindhoven Brainport region. In 2021 it opened a large office in the Dutch Greenport region (De Lier) to reiterate its focus strategy and commitment to enabling a better food and plant distribution system.
