HORTILOGICS B.V., the recently launched joint venture between Berg Hortimotive, KOAT, HortiKey and Crux Agribotics, lives up to its ambitions to become the world’s Full Service Partner for integrated internal logistics in greenhouses and packing halls. With the appointment of Marcel van Steekelenburg and John van Gils, the company is making a jumpstart in realizing its goals.
Two experienced specialists in the industry strengthen HORTILOGICS to offer smart logistics in cultivation, harvesting and product processing. These appointments give HORTILOGICS a boost towards realizing international growth of data-driven logistics in greenhouse and packing hall.
Horticulture as home base
Marcel van Steekelenburg is well known in the industry with a large national and international experience and track record. In his role at HORTILOGICS, Marcel will advise growers and investors behind (inter)national horticultural projects, about the possibilities of internal logistic automation. Marcel was born between the greenhouses and horticulture has been a central theme in his life. Years of international sales experience in horticulture supply, substrates as well as sales of internal transport systems now brings him at HORTILOGICS, the ultimate system integrator. When Marcel was asked about this last career choice, he answered enthusiastically: “If you don’t know where you want to go, you will not get there. HORTILOGICS and the parties behind it have a clear vision of where they want to go. I am happy to be part of that”.
The liaison
John van Gils, will develop and maintain strategic cooperations with greenhouse builders, climate partners, breeders, cooperatives and other parties in the value chain. His background and broad experience in business development and sales, within the food processing industry among others, can be leveraged immediately. HORTILOGICS sees enormous potential in controlled cultivation and processing of fresh produce. The Covid pandemic and increasing attention from venture investors in the industry are globally resulting in further scale expansion and optimizations. Big data and further integration of processes are, in our view, the key to predictable results which is a precondition to feed the rowing population of the future. John van Gils: “We want to unburden global horticultural entrepreneurs and work together on transparent data exchange. To address global resource challenges, cooperation is required. Alone you go faster, but together you go further”.
